Above thea Ales stenar sunship and it´s quarterbound sunguardians
(1 sunguardian, a time of ca 1,5 hours), here marked with the suntimeshadow´s path from a leaning staff (the sungod´s attribute), which has been raised in the heart of the sunship. By the suntime measurement the staff is held 70 degrees toward the north, i.e. towards the 12th sunrock from the northwest.

Madsebacke, close to Allinge, Bornholm. Sunsymbol for time-measurement. The four spokes, the four carved-in cavitydividings, and the 16 quarterbound cavities outside the sunwheel itself. This rock-carving probably symbolises the suns dynamic journey through the seasons and the 16 guardians (eyktir or eyktar), in which the suntime and the days were measured in. The rock-carving is completely identical with the sunship´s design.
Explanations to the sunrocks between Southwest and Northeast which were somewhat incorrectly reerected during the renovation 1916.
Sunrock 15 in the Southwest in the first sunguardian, has previously been situated 15 cm further to the right, seen from the centre.
Sunrock 12 in the west, in the beginning of the 3rd sunguardian has originally been situated ca 14-15 cm further to the left, i.e. towards westsouthwest, seen from the centre.
Sunrock 10 has been situated ca 15 cm further to the end, ca 10 cm further out.
Sunrock 9 has previously been situated ca 10 cm, further to the left and 15 cm further out relative the current position.
Sunrock 8 in the westnorthwest in the 4th sunguardian has originally been situated ca 15 cm further to the left.
Sunrock 7 has previously been situated ca 10 cm further out.
Sunrock 5 has originally been situated ca 15 cm further out.
As to the incorrect reerections of the sunrocks 26, 27, 28 and 29 in the 5th sunguardian between northwest and northnorthwest, this does in no way at all effect the sundial´s current function.
